icon If anyone's looking for a host...

I use Dreamhost for a couple of my websites. Basically... for like 9.95 a  month, they (currently) give 2400MB of drive space, 120GB bandwidth, unlimited mySQL databases.. 3 domains, and 15 subdomains.... php, cgi, mailing lists, 600 email accounts...

Basically... it's ready to use for php stuff as-is, with no modifications, and has a lot of storage and bandwidth for testing php code - without a worry of going over the allocated charges. They even have a page for mySQL usage (continuaries - however it's spelled), so that if you're wanting to know, you can check it (they're unlimited with them too).

(Link's a affiliate link for my hosting company - but it does help to offset piracy costs for me if someone signs up with it.)

hhhmmm...I may be looking for a host soon...but $50 setup fee? that sounds a little high...I'll have to add them into my comparison...

The setup fee's a tad annoying, but if there's a 1 or 2 year pre-payment, it's waived.

At least it's only a one time thing (and if you upgrade or downgrade plans later, there's no fee)

I can suggest you to take a look at http://www.ipowerweb.com

it is where my site is hosted...if I remember well there is no setup fee, 3000Mb space, PHP, CGI, MySQL, webstatistics, 500 POP emails and other...

I wrote up a comparison chart for hosts and included y'alls suggestions...I only included some of the 'major' factors. I am not sure of all of the features I'll need like if I'll need a unique IP.

This is for Linux servers for PHP btw, and one thing that caught my eye were options for including ASP/.NET support for like $5 / month. (Oops, I forget which hosts did this)

I liked Dreamhost, and even though there's no break on a year contract, there is for a 2 year contract. (and yes, the setup fee is waived for a year committment)

SEE  HERE

Luckily, I'm in no hurry to choose a host, so if anyone has another host I can look at let me know...

Like with my host, they have habits of giving existing customers the new "deals" that they offer new customers... but you never know if things could change. Because of that, I have (which is way over the normal plan values):
(with the Code Monster)

358GB bandwidth/mo
11100 MB Storage space
15 full domains
75 subdomains
